Apply PAN / TAN
The Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is issued by the Income-tax Department, is one of the most important documents for filing tax returns, investment activities or any other larger financial transactions via the banking channel. The PAN is issued in order to prevent tax evasion by individuals and entities as it links all financial transactions made by a particular individual or entity.
For Resident Individual/ Domestic entities, it is simple to get a PAN Card by just applying through Aadhar Card / Incorporation documents.
For Non Resident Individual/ Foreign Corporates it is advisable to apply for a PAN in case they are having any income / investment in India or if they are doing any business transaction with Indian entities. This would help them with reduced tax rates as the rates for deductee with PAN is lower than rates prescribed in DTAA.
The Tax Deduction Number (TAN) is mandatory for Individuals/ Business entities who are liable for audit provisions as per Income Tax Act 1961.
